About the Kendriya Vidyalaya

Introduction:    
 
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rayagada, a co-educational institution, run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development was established in the year 2007. It started functioning in its office in Jeypore Sugar Factory Quarters at Rayagada from 28th February 2007, but now functioning in Old Collectorate Building, Municipal Campus, Rayagada in temporary accommodation provided by the District Administration Authority.    

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rayagada firmly believes that a true education implies all-round development of a child and so besides academic excellence stress is laid on many co-curricular activities- such as games and sports, scout and guide, drawing and painting to name a few to stimulate the latent talents of the budding citizens of India. The organization primarily aims at physical, mental and spiritual development of every child. It also envisages to flourish as a pace setting educational institution by imparting updated quality education and inculcating the feeling of oneness and Indianness among our students.

Genesis of the KV:

Details of previous and new campus 
 
LAND & BUILDING : 
 Lease of 8 acres of land earmarked by the sponsoring authority at a changed place (Jairamguda, Rayagada) is under finalization. Bhumipujan has been done on 20/09/09. Temporary construction work was started but stopped on 31.10.2009 by the orders of honorable High Court Orissa, Cuttack maintaining the Status Quo. 
 
 Present campus: 
 Temporary Accommodation with minimum infrastructural facilities at Old Collectorate Building, Municipal Campus, Rayagada provided by the District Administration Authority.

Facilities available - including games and sports facilities 
 
CLASS LIBRARY: 
All the five classes have the class library system with required number of books. The children maintain their library copies and enjoy reading. Vidyalaya library is also established. At present 935 nos. of reference books and other books are available. 
 
 
GAMES & SPORTS: 
Materials have been procured to encourage the games and sports activities and issued to the children during games period. Sports competition will be organized as per schedule for the year 2010-11 and Vidyalaya has also engaged one coach for the sports activities. 
SPOKEN ENGLISH: 
Faculty for the Spoken English has been engaged on contractual basis. The children are encouraged to develop communication in English. Day by day improvement is found. 
 
COMPUTER LABORATORY: 
17 nos. of HCL computers have been purchased and installed in temporary computer Lab. Students are using the computers regularly during the computer period. The computer student ratio is 1:13.
